Worlds within Worlds

Since I bought my long lens (500mm f5.6) I have experimented with long landscapes typically taken through a gap in the trees. I have taken to making extreme crops of these and they have a kind of strange appeal to me. The scene is many miles distant and so seems like another world to me. They seem to do best in black and white and because of the crop they have lofi mood to them.
Part of the appeal I think is the brain likes to work on incomplete images as a sort of puzzle. The imagination is let off the leash a little.
