Mollie and I went for a long hike up Mickinnick Trail today. This trail is pretty steep and rocky but it is close to town and I was hoping not as muddy as elsewhere with a thaw in full force. The bottom flat section was the worse and treacherously icy

Another morning out with Mollie. A month of freezing weather and a snow drought has left the forest looking tired and dried out. The frost penetrates deeper into the soil and erupts in cracks of bright crystals of ice while the trails bulge with black shiny domes of ice covered

We had a little sunshine the other day and seized upon this and went out to Mineral Point. There is not much snow yet this winter so the drive out was easy and the trail virtually free of any snow. Mineral Point is on the shore of lake Pend Oreille

Gray fog filled all the space on the street between the houses and seeped like depression through town today. Fog is a great medium for intimate landscape photography. The fundamental skill I think is required is reducing the complexity of a woodland scene. Fog helps… Mollie and I had the
