Oregon Coast

One nice coastal town is Pacific City. It has a bit of a surf vibe and nice beaches.

Pacific City beach and dunes

Just south of Lincoln City is what must be one of those trees that has been photographed so many times it is a wonder the colors aren’t faded. Still I can’t resist. Annoyingly I had to hurry as someone insisted on climbing up to the sandy spot to the left of the tree so his wife could take a picture of him there. He was clearly not the first looking at how worn the path is there. As if this poor tree did not have enough to deal with.

Further down is Heceta Head lighthouse another much photographed place.

Later we stopped in Bandon for coffee. I can recommend the Bandon Coffee Cafe for good coffee and a casual-to-hip vibe. I took Mollie on a short walk on the pier on the Coquille river bay. It was a cool but bright day.

Cormorant and pilings.

Afterwards we headed over to the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Reserve just a few blocks away. If you find yourself in Bandon this is a very pretty spot with good views over the coast and short walks on the beach. It was very popular that morning.

Being a bright day the photography doesn’t do the day justice but here it goes…

Some things might work better in black and white.
