Odin Bay

Odin Bay

Near Sandpoint is a short trail near Odin Bay on Lake Pend Oreille. There were a lot of Nordic immigrants in the area and so some of the place names take on that character. (In addition to French and Scottish amongst others.) The trail is a favorite of Mollie’s as it has varied terrain which I always imagine she finds as a kind of obstacle course to hurl herself through.

In the fall the colors of the Poplar and Aspen are particularly rich. They are draining the lake to its winter level and this exposes beaches and mudflats that beckon you to explore off the trail. We have been blessed with warm sunny fall days. Such conditions do not create the best photography but the colors make up for it.

I leave you with some views from the Odin Bay trail in fall.
