Forest Evening

Forest Evening

The wind blew as directionless and unsettled as the times.

We caught you unawares. As were we.
The snap of a twig, a head turn, and there you were,
The camera caught you in the fading evening light,
Vigilant, perhaps curious.

And we, not intending disturbance,
Wandered away on another path,
To sit by the gully and watch the fading sky.

To walk amongst the spring flowers
And through the dark pine forests.

Before returning to a bench to lie down and
Watch the sky and the stars begin to appear.

Until my shadow, cast in the crescent moon light,
Told us it was time to return to our other home.
