Along the Kootenai in Fall

The pre-dawn Saturday morning sky was clear of clouds with a gradient of light in the east the prelude sunrise. Jupiter and Venus were visible in the western and eastern skies. Mollie and I walked in the clear dry autumnal air through Sandpoint.
It was a good day for a regular pilgrimage to Bonner’s Books in Bonner’s Ferry. Before having lunch at the Rusty Moose (also part of the tradition) we took Mollie to the wildlife refuge along the Kootenai river which runs past Bonner’s Ferry. The Kootenai is a calm, though powerful, river even in the low water season of early fall.
I wrote a little about the Kootenai last year here…

I took a few modest photos to give an impression of the river in fall. The color of the leaves, a dusting of snow on the mountains and a glassy calm on the water.
